Food Stamps

The government offers the Food Stamp Program. This program helps people with little or no money buy enough food for healthy meals. It does this by providing people with food stamp benefits, which can be used to buy food at participating stores. There are a few guidelines to be eligible for this program, some of them being: citizenship, you must look for and accept employment, you may not have any more than $2,000 in cash and bank assetts. The amount of food stamp benefits that you may be eligible for will depend on your income and the number of persons in your household.
You can apply for benefits by visiting the Family Support office in the county where you live. If you are approved you will be given an EBT card (looks like a credit card). Your funds will be on this card and will be used like a debit card. You may use this card at any participating grocery store.
